Thank you veterans for all your service, your sacrifices, your honor and your courage.
I ask those who are reading this to visit this Veterans Affairs website and view the video honoring our veterans this year. It is good. You can download posters there also, and get some great information.
Included in the video is mention of the Honor Flight, which I’m sure most of you have heard of. It’s a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. They transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans from World War II, along with terminally ill veterans.
It’s a wonderful day for these men and women to visit their memorials, remember their comrades, tell their stories and reflect. It’s a one day trip so a lot is a long day packed with many emotions and events, and it’s a day they will never forget. It brings tears to my eyes now knowing how these heroes must feel when they see their memorials. I know how I feel when I see them and I’m not a veteran, but I am an American Patriot.
We have Honor Flight Brevard in our Space Coast area and they need your support as it costs about $400 for each veteran and escort for the day trip. Well worth it. if you live in this area visit our local Honor Flight Brevard and help, donate. Brevard had our first Honor Flight in October and more are to come, with your support.
Check for an Honor Flight in your area as I’m sure there is one close by. Just do it…you’ll be glad you did. You can even volunteer to be an escort. With over one thousand World War II veterans dying each day, our time to express our thanks to these men and women is running out.
My salute to every veteran, and their families. Thank you for your service.
